Network Engineering Department

Vision

The department aims to be a pioneer among all departments of computer network engineering and information technology in Iraqi universities through preparing qualified engineers able to open new scientific horizons, support scientific research movement, and provide applied technical consultation in labor market to work on community service.

Mission

Preparing competent and entrepreneurial engineers capable of meeting needs of labor market, government institutions and all sectors of science and technology (public, private and mixed) in computer network engineering field, through updating curriculum ,encouraging students to be creative and innovative, and strive to teach department students practical information that leads to achieve fundamental changes in specialization field, consistent with adapting requirements of renewable, changing and present labor market , and submit consulting, design and implementation in computer network engineering and information technology field.

Objectives

1. Graduating engineering cadres with a high scientific level who possess understanding and knowledge, which makes them capable of building systems in computer networks, analyzing them, and developing them, while following up with these cadres after graduation by continuing to communicate through social media channels and others to learn about the size of the challenges faced by these cadres and the amount of The necessary change in the curricula to make the capabilities available more and the capabilities to face the challenges higher.
2. Organizing seminars and holding scientific conferences and workshops with the rest of the colleges inside and outside the country, government institutions, and the private sector to solve problems and develop the work of these institutions.
3. Continuous updating of the curricula to keep pace with scientific development in line with the needs of the labor market, by providing an appropriate environment for theoretical and practical teaching, using the latest technologies, means, and devices, and adopting international quality standards and academic accreditation.
4. Providing academic consultations in the fields of computer engineering in general and computer network engineering and its applications in particular, in line with the market need and requirements.
5. Raising the scientific and technological level by adopting the correct method in the field of scientific research and building a solid research base by adopting databases characterized by sobriety and accuracy.
6. Endeavor to conclude memorandums of understanding and implement joint projects with international independent research centers or those located in universities for the purpose of maintaining the scientific level of professors and students alike.
7. Opening postgraduate studies in the department to develop, support and motivate its employees, and provide centers and institutions with postgraduate certificates and scientific titles, not to mention creating a spirit of competition and creativity, and opening broad horizons for the department’s teachers to develop their scientific and practical talent through postgraduate students’ projects in master’s and doctoral degrees.

8- Keeping to Integrate with the rest of computer and electrical engineering departments to overcome lack of required skills and create integrated work team and implement multidisciplinary projects.

1. Enter the Network Engineering profession as practicing engineers and consultants with leading companies and organizations in various areas that are related to Network Engineering.
2. Pursue further education and research at prominent research universities in Network Engineering, and related fields.
3. Progress in their chosen fields to supervisory and management roles.

5. Participate in and contribute to professional societies and community services.
