Electrical Engineering Department
About the Department:
The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the academic year (2017-2018) at the College of Engineering, Al-Iraqia University. It awards a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering after four years of study, following a semester system in its curriculum, which covers general specializations in various fields of electrical engineering, including: power and electrical machines, electronics and communications, and computers and control. The department also offers a Master of Science degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. The department is able to supply the public and private sectors with qualified engineers in scientific, practical, and research engineering applications in the field of specialization.
Vision Statement
The department becomes distinct and pioneer at the local and regional levels in the field of electrical engineering by offering a modern and advanced academic program in accordance with local, regional and international standards, empowering qualified nationals to work and providing scientific, technical and applied advice in the labor market.
Mission Statement
Developing competent and highly qualified engineers who are able to meet the needs of the labor market in the public and private sectors in the field of electrical engineering, by updating the curricula according to the rapid developments of modern technology and dynamic requirements changes of the market. Also, providing students of the department with the latest knowledge and advanced theoretical and practical skills, and encouraging students to be creative and innovative. In addition to the department’s endeavor to develop new study programs for postgraduate studies to keep pace with the advanced and recent developments in the specialization.
Strategic Objectives of the Program

To graduate well-educated engineers who possess a wide range of knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and able to develop themselves as well as to work in the public and private sectors.

To obtain national and international accreditations and continuously update the curricula using appropriate and up-to-date theoretical and practical teaching methods and techniques according to the international standards to enable students to meet the needs of the labor market.

To foster cooperation with the corresponding engineering departments and research centers to enhance the scientific level of the students and the teaching staff.

To enable the student to conduct scientific researches, organizing seminars, participating in scientific conferences and workshops inside the country and abroad.
